Women Diversifying the Mining Value Chain: Collaboration and Strategic Leadership by ME Elecmetal

In traditionally male-dominated fields like mining and metallurgy, advancing diversity and inclusion isn’t just an aspiration – it’s essential to solving complex industry challenges ahead. Research consistently shows a strong correlation between workplace gender equality and improved organizational performance across the board. At ME Elecmetal, this conviction is translated into concrete actions that promote awareness, foster collaboration, and strengthen female leadership. These efforts are part of a broader transformation—one that embraces diverse talent within a truly multicultural organization.

This movement has always and will continue to be regarded as a high priority within ME Electmetal. Throughout 2025—and as part of Women’s Month 2026 (March)—ME Elecmetal has implemented a range of initiatives that reflect this ongoing commitment. These efforts recognize that expanding access to diverse talent is not only a response to evolving social realities, but also a strategic imperative for sustainable growth. By fostering inclusion, the company is advancing toward its long-term vision and supporting its 2030 goals of sustainable development.

Connecting Diversity with Innovation and Sustainability

Throughout the month of March, a series of intimate and in-depth conversations brought together employees to explore key topics such as effective communication, collaboration between men and women, and discipline as a driver of growth. These sessions created space for reflection, dialogue, and shared learning—reinforcing the connection between diversity, innovation, and sustainable development.

The events included:

  • Women Driving the Future: This internal association, organized by the Human Resources Department and the ME Elecmetal Women’s Group, completed its founding chapter meeting in March. On the table were open discussions regarding women in the workplace, effective communication, collaboration strategies, work-life balance, motherhood, and more. These discussions surrounded an important theme regarding the path and role of women in the workplace and within the mining industry, reaffirming that advancing inclusion involves listening, sharing, and building collectively.
  • Women’s Economic Forum– New York 2026: The Women’s Economic Forum (WEF) is an international meeting held in New York every year that connects women leaders from all over the globe to foster networking, empowerment, and economic opportunities. As part of the WEF Chile delegation, ME Elecmetal was represented by Constanza Echeverría, Global Sustainability Director, alongside leaders from major companies and diverse sectors.

During the event, she participated on the “Women Leading Sustainable Mining” panel and in the launch of the Global Women Bank platform, an initiative of the WEF Global G100. Her remarks highlighted the importance of access to and inclusion of more women in the mining value chain as a key factor in driving collaboration, innovation, and the sustainable transformation of the industry.

  • Women Open Innovation (WOI) 2025 – Chile: As part of its ongoing commitment to diversity and innovation, ME Elecmetal also participated in Women Open Innovation (WOI) 2025, organized by the Chile chapter of the WEF. This forum highlighted the role of women in driving innovation and sustainable development within traditionally male-dominated industries.

During the “Women in Mining” roundtable, Constanza Echeverría alongside Jacqueline González, Head of Innovation, shared her vision of a global operation moving toward full circularity and sustainable workplace priorities.

All of these initiatives reinforce the idea that the inclusion of diverse talent is not only an ethical imperative, but also a key enabler of collaboration, innovation, and sustainability across the industry. ME Elecmetal will continue to strengthen its efforts to consolidate its role as a strategic partner, advancing a more inclusive and sustainable future for the mining sector.

“Including women in highly challenging work environments involves understanding diverse realities around the world, which reaffirmed something essential for me: access remains the greatest challenge—access to work, to decision-making, to early development in STEM fields, and fostering deep collaboration between men and women as an absolutely strategic tool.”

— Constanza Echeverría, Global Sustainability Director at ME Elecmetal

“At ME Elecmetal South America, we are creating a space where women feel represented and heard. This conversation allows us to bring real issues to the table that are key to moving toward a more inclusive culture with a clear purpose.”

— Mariangeles Canitrot, Technical Sales Manager, ME Elecmetal South America
