Beyond our Talents: Jacqueline Gonzalez, Head of Development and Innovation, ME Elecmetal South America — A Story of Resilience and Innovation

From her early days in Santiago, Chile, Jacqueline González—known affectionately to her friends as Jackie—has always pursued clarity and purpose in her professional journey. Her academic path began at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile with a bachelor’s in humanities. However, it was during her early economics courses that she discovered a strong affinity for the commercial world—where analytical thinking meets strategic decision-making. This revelation led her to graduate as an engineer, setting the foundation for a career marked by resilience, transformation, and innovation.

From the outset of her career, Jacqueline was driven by a desire to “put things together”—envisioning herself in roles tied to innovation and the development of new businesses. However, her professional journey began in finance and management control, a field she describes as “understanding through control—it’s like performing an autopsy on an organization.”

Jacqueline’s professional journey took a significant step forward at Nestlé, where she deepened her expertise in finance and gained her first hands-on experience in marketing and new business development—particularly in the dairy sector. She later joined Cencosud, seeking a work environment more aligned with her values after confronting ethical challenges in a previous role.

It was during this period that Jacqueline faced the greatest challenge of her life: a medical diagnosis that gave her only nine months to live. Far from stopping her, this episode provoked a profound personal and professional reconfiguration. As she herself relates, “this situation made me make important adjustments in many dimensions: I changed my partner, family plans, job and focus”. After a successful operation, which she considers “a kind of miracle”, Jacqueline began to live with a renewed purpose and more aligned with her true values: projects with meaning.

That is how she came to ME Elecmetal, joining the management control area. In this role she has been able to combine her technical rigor with her passion for creating and transforming.

“ME Elecmetal is a deeply technical and strategically minded company. Everything is possible to move forward. I like contributing in that space and building strong teams.”

Over the past 11 years at ME Elecmetal, Jackie has built more than just a career—she’s found a community. “What I value most is the healthy work environment,” she shares, highlighting a culture rooted in mutual respect, approachable leadership, and a strong sense of collaboration. “You can reach out to anyone here—leaders are accessible, friendly, and incredibly supportive,” she adds.

Once the management control area was well established, Jackie’s curiosity and drive naturally led her deeper into the world of innovation. She began participating in training programs and spearheading new initiatives—momentum that aligned perfectly with the creation of ME Elecmetal’s Development and Innovation department. In this space, she brings together her analytical expertise and her creative spirit to design solutions with lasting impact.

Reflecting on her current role, Jackie is enthusiastic and direct: “Very few people get up in the morning excited to go to work. I do. I wake up energized—I enjoy what I do. I feel free to speak up and share ideas. It’s a space where you can be yourself.”

In addition to contributing to ME Elecmetal’s brand and culture, Jackie admires the company’s strong technical foundation and bold global outlook. “We have a presence in places few others consider—Zambia, Kazakhstan, South Africa—as well as strategic markets like China, the United States, and Peru. That says a lot about the visionary mindset of our leadership.”

Jackie also highlights ME Elecmetal’s clear and forward-looking vision—not only in terms of global expansion but also in its commitment to fostering internal diversity. She points to meaningful progress in welcoming talent from various nationalities, which has enriched the organizational culture. “I’ve seen more and more women joining the company,” she notes, “and I’m confident we’ll continue to pave the way forward.”

She sees herself as a professional in constant evolution—driven by purpose, curiosity, and a desire to create change, while also valuing the stability that supports long-term growth. This balance helps her recognize environments that foster both personal and collective development. “I truly recommend working at ME Elecmetal,” she affirms. “It’s a company where you can maintain a healthy balance between your work and personal life—and that balance is genuinely part of the culture.”
