Beyond Our Talents: Rossmery Córdova, Deputy Commercial Manager at ME Elecmetal Peru — Seeing Opportunity Where Others See Limits

Can you introduce yourself and your role in the company?

I am a Fluid Mechanics Engineer and a graduate of the National University of San Marcos in Peru. Currently, I serve as Deputy Commercial Manager at ME Elecmetal Peru. My career has been defined by challenges, resilience, and a strong conviction that women can lead with both strength and empathy in industries traditionally dominated by men.

Today, I have the privilege of leading our commercial team with a comprehensive vision. Our goal goes beyond achieving sales results—we focus on building long-term customer relationships, understanding their real challenges, and delivering solutions that make technical, economic, and human sense. I also take great pride in mentoring and developing new leaders, creating space for growth, and empowering new voices within the company.

What attracted you to ME Elecmetal?

What first attracted me was the opportunity to grow in an environment full of potential. When I joined ME Elecmetal, there were only four of us in a small office in Peru. My boss at the time—who later became a mentor—spoke with honesty about both the challenges and opportunities the company faced. Unlike more established organizations, ME Elecmetal offered space to build, to contribute, and to leave a lasting mark. That possibility truly motivated me.

I was also coming out of a difficult stage, having been unemployed for more than a year after leaving a senior position in search of a new direction. ME Elecmetal offered me a fresh opportunity, and over time I discovered not only a company with vision, but also a culture grounded in values that truly resonate with me.

How would you describe the culture at ME Elecmetal?

For me, ME Elecmetal’s culture is one of its greatest strengths. Closeness here is not just a slogan—it’s something you truly experience. We treat each other with respect and warmth, and there is space for humor, for learning from mistakes, and for sharing openly. Unlike in other environments I’ve worked in, at ME Elecmetal I never feel the need to “toughen up” just to fit into a technical setting—I can be myself.

When I briefly left to take a position at another company, what I missed most was exactly that: the closeness, the spontaneous collaboration, and the way everyone comes together without losing their humanity. That’s why I returned. ME Elecmetal doesn’t just offer a workplace—it offers a team where you genuinely feel you belong.

What benefits do you value the most about working here?

Beyond the tangible benefits, such as support for postgraduate studies, what I value most is the trust the company places in us. From day one, ME Elecmetal believed in me—giving me the freedom to grow, make decisions, learn from mistakes, and continue developing as a professional.

I also value the respect with which relationships are managed—the strong business ethics and the genuine human approach to people. At ME Elecmetal, there is an understanding that we all have personal stories and challenges outside of work, and that too is respected. For me, that is truly priceless.

Personal anecdotes about teamwork, achievements, or company events:

One of the experiences I cherish most was my return to ME Elecmetal. After accepting a position at another company, I quickly realized how a negative work environment can make you doubt even your own abilities. It was a difficult period, but when I decided to return, I called my former boss—and his immediate response was: “We are waiting for you with open arms.”

Returning meant reconnecting with my purpose, resuming projects that I was still passionate about, and, above all, feeling valued. That experience reaffirmed my belief that talent flourishes in healthy environments. It also confirmed that I had built real bonds with my colleagues. And those are things you never forget.

“What first drew me to ME Elecmetal was the opportunity to grow in an environment rich with potential. Here, there is space to create, to bring forward new ideas, and to leave a meaningful legacy. That is what truly inspired me.”

How does your team help solve challenges in the mining industry?

Our team’s mission is to understand the customer from the ground up. Mining is an industry with enormous technical and logistical challenges, but also human ones. At ME Elecmetal, we don’t just sell parts or mechanical solutions: we accompany processes, design tailor-made solutions, and respond quickly when conditions change.

We have built a collaborative network across engineering, production, and planning that enables us to act holistically. We are always listening, proposing improvements, and adapting to the evolving needs of the industry. Above all, we understand that customers are not simply looking for a supplier—they are looking for a partner.

What excites you the most about the future of ME Elecmetal?

I am excited to see how ME Elecmetal continues to grow while staying true to its essence. We are constantly evolving—expanding operations, innovating with products that reduce carbon footprint, integrating digitalization into our solutions, and strengthening our commitment to sustainability and diversity.

But what excites me most is seeing new spaces opening for the next generation—for more women in mining and for leaders with a human vision. I want to be part of that change, contributing to making ME Elecmetal more representative, more diverse, and more open to the world.
