Based on the needs identified in customer operations, ME Elecmetal South America created the Innovation Management Area several years ago, which fosters solution spaces through various activities, such as: 

  1. Internal Innovation Program: This initiative hosts regular innovation talks featuring diverse speakers addressing topics of interest such as robotics, technology, and communications.
  2. Innovation Spaces: Within work areas, teams are organized at the cell level to foster the development of initiatives that can address the projects they are involved in. This approach facilitates the creation of a portfolio of projects, spanning from the design phase of an initiative to its piloting and execution, accompanied by impact measurement.

The significance of innovation in ME Elecmetal’s business model is evident, with tangible results and outcomes. One notable achievement has been the multiple recognitions by INNOVA Claro, which honored different teams for their contributions in the following initiatives:

  • SAG Digital Twin: This platform integrates various prediction, simulation, and operational analysis tools to diagnose mill operation and facilitate control strategies for enhancing operational stability and maximizing production. The solution, developed in collaboration with ECN Automation, is currently offered by ME Elecmetal South America as part of its technology solutions package. 
  • Ore Sorting: This pilot service specializes in the separation of metal byproducts, enabling the processing of accumulated materials produced by SAG mills, such as spherical balls and steel of other shapes.
