Where Futures Begin: Internship Stories at ME Elecmetal

At ME Elecmetal South America, 39 young professionals are embarking on a journey that combines professional discovery, continuous learning, and close mentorship. Across departments as diverse as Grinding Media, Human Resources, Technical Services, Administration and Finance, Quality Services, Operations, and Commercial Services, each intern is taking meaningful first steps in a work environment that both challenges and empowers them.

One of the most significant milestones of the program was the celebration of Intern Day — an opportunity to share experiences, lessons learned, and challenges alongside their mentors. The spirit of mutual growth and collaboration was evident in the stories they shared.

Who are they and what is their role?

For Ornella Ferrufino, joining ME Digital within the Commercial Services Department opened the door to an entirely new professional landscape.

“Today, I support laser scanning initiatives, develop technical instructions, and contribute to team proposals,” she shares.

In Human Resources, Israel Becerra works in a fast-paced environment defined by constant interaction with candidates and internal teams.

“My role is to support the entire recruitment process — from candidate sourcing and job postings to conducting interviews. Everything is a learning experience,” he explains.

Meanwhile, in Grinding Media, Isidora Salgado contributes from the laboratory, ensuring technical precision in every task.

“I program cuts on the EDM machine and support technical procedures for material analysis,” she says, proud of the impact her work has on the overall process.

What attracted them to ME Elecmetal?

Although each journey is unique, they all share a genuine motivation to learn and grow.

Ornella was seeking a challenge beyond the traditional mining technician path. She found that opportunity in ME Digital.

“This is a different route from the traditional mining technician profile, and that’s very motivating,” she explains.

Israel joined after receiving a recommendation from someone who valued the company’s work environment. Following his interview, he confirmed that impression firsthand.

“After the interview, I realized it truly was a supportive and collaborative place, and that was very motivating.”

Isidora was influenced by positive feedback from classmates who described the experience as enriching and flexible.

“I joined based on references from peers and a job posting whose strong focus on learning really resonated with me,” she shares.

How do they describe the internal culture?

Although they work in different areas, Isidora, Ornella, and Israel agree on one essential point: the work environment truly makes the difference.

“What stands out to me is the respectful and collaborative atmosphere, where you feel welcomed and supported,” says Ornella.

Israel shares a similar perspective, highlighting the human side of the organization. He describes being part of “a team that feels like a family — with active listening, support, and space to grow both technically and personally.”

Isidora emphasizes something she considers uncommon in many organizations: “I see a healthy and flexible environment built on trust and a genuine willingness to teach — something you don’t find everywhere,” she reflects.

What benefits do they value most?

Learning opportunities are at the heart of each intern’s experience.

For Ornella, exposure to areas she had not explored during her studies — such as metrology and advanced technologies — has opened the door to new professional interests and potential specialization paths.

Israel values the opportunity to engage with diverse teams across the organization. These interactions have strengthened not only his technical competencies but also his communication and interpersonal skills.

For Isidora, the greatest benefit has been expanding her perspective beyond the classroom — gaining practical experience, applying methodologies in real-world scenarios, and growing within an environment that actively promotes continuous learning.

What anecdotes or experiences marked them?

Amid daily responsibilities and new challenges, Intern Day stands out as a defining milestone.

Ornella remembers it with particular pride — her team earned third place in an innovation challenge. “It strengthened my leadership skills and gave me confidence when presenting,” she shares.

For Israel, the event offered a unique opportunity to connect with people from different areas and age groups — an experience that strengthened his ability to build relationships across the organization.

Isidora vividly recalls her very first day at the company: an intensive technical induction followed by celebrating a colleague’s birthday. That small but meaningful gesture, she says, revealed from the very beginning the positive and welcoming team atmosphere.

How do they feel they contribute to the challenges of the mining industry?

Although they work in different areas, they share a common understanding: their daily responsibilities are not isolated tasks, but interconnected contributions aligned with ME Elecmetal’s broader mission.

Ornella experiences this from ME Digital, where each process, scan, or proposal becomes a concrete improvement for her team.

“I’m helping to organize processes, standardize them, and create tools that make the department’s work easier,” she explains, aware that her contribution goes far beyond her screen.

Israel, in Human Resources, feels that impact from the very first interview he conducts. For him, every position filled is an opportunity to strengthen the culture and ensure teams are prepared for the company’s major business challenges.

“My role is key in bringing in the right people,” he affirms, understanding that talent is one of the engines that keeps the industry moving forward.

Isidora, from the Grinding Media laboratory, makes a more technical but equally decisive contribution. Programming cuts and supporting specialized analyses allows her teams to make precise decisions.

“My work helps move the technical process forward more efficiently,” she notes — aware that those details are essential to innovation and continuous improvement for customers.

What excites them about the future?

For these three young professionals, the future is not just a possibility — it is a path already in motion.

Ornella looks beyond the present. She plans to continue her studies, take the step toward civil engineering, and deepen her specialization with everything she is learning at ME Digital. Her aspiration is not only to grow, but to become a professional who improves processes and helps open new opportunities for others.

Israel has found his passion in Human Resources. He envisions himself guiding talent, connecting the right people with the right challenges, and contributing to stronger, more resilient teams. For him, the future is clear: shaping culture, welcoming new talent, and sustaining the human core of an industry that never stops evolving.

Isidora moves forward with curiosity and purpose. She aims to continue learning, strengthen her technical expertise, and share what she has gained — knowing that knowledge grows when it is passed on. Every cut, every analysis, and every improvement brings her closer to becoming a more confident and fulfilled professional.

And what role does ME Elecmetal play in all of this? A defining one. It is both the starting point and the launchpad. A place where interns do more than observe — they contribute. Where the future isn’t just imagined, but actively built.

Here, technology, mentorship, and hands-on learning come together in an environment shaped by trust, collaboration, and opportunity.

If you’re motivated by professional growth, continuous learning, and seeing your work translate into real impact, ME Elecmetal is worth exploring. Your story — like Ornella’s, Israel’s, or Isidora’s — could begin here too.
